The ER and Neon Blue Vomit

William was definitely sick on Wednesday.  We ended up in the ER with him late Wednesday night because he woke up crying about chest pain.  I know that chest pain with the flu is not good, so Ralph gave him a blessing and we took him in to get it checked.  Fortunately, everything checked out okay.  The x-rays showed normal lungs and heart.  It is just that the whole process takes so long.  We got there at 11:30 pm and left at 2:30 am.  By the time we got home, William was feeling better and wanted a snack before heading to bed.  This left me with a whole two hours of sleep before the morning seminary run.  I took a lot of little catnaps that day.

I could tell William was on the mend Thursday evening when he was trying to figure out how he could be well enough to attend school on Friday and still be too sick to attend church on Sunday.  School was a draw because of the Valentine's Party that was taking place.  I assured him that he really was not ready to go to school but he would most likely be hale and hearty by Sunday.

Sarah took William's valentine bag to school and brought it back home to him full of loot.  This brings us to the next part of the William adventure.  Because he had been feeling so lousy all week, he really hadn't been eating much.  Even on Friday, I hadn't convinced him to put much in his stomach.  That all changed with the allure of sugar.  Between 4:30 and 6:00 William downed a lot of candy including a pack of Fun Dip, boxes of candy hearts and Pop Rocks.  All this on a stomach which had essentially been empty for days.  At 6:25 the body rejected the junk.  Up it all came in its neon blue glory.  Thankfully for me, I had left for the gym at 6:15 so I was spared the sight and the cleanup.  Fortunately, Ralph still had a half hour before he left for his radio club meeting.  I don't know what the kids would have done if no adult was present.  I like to think that they would have handled it and cleaned it up, but I am skeptical.  We will find out another day.  The only trauma that ensued this time was that Ralph was so busy cleaning the mess that he missed the Unix time epoch turning over to 1234567890.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what that is either.
