Band Concert and Awards

I enjoyed Sarah's end-of-the-year band concert. The kids have learned a lot this year and they did a very good job with the music. Sarah is continuing to enjoy playing the flute and got to join her band in a trip to Busch Gardens in conjunction with a competition. She was pleased that she didn't get car sick on the bus trip down and was even able to enjoy many of the rides. She did sit out one really curvy roller coaster when she knew that her stomach was already feeling a little edgy. Smart girl not to push it on the motion sickness thing.

The band teachers handed out a few awards which were peer voted awards. Sarah received an award for most improved musician, which the teachers pointed out did not mean that she wasn't good to begin with, but rather reflects a dedication to putting effort into improving technique and becoming a better musician.

Sarah was also honored by her teachers for academic success. Her history teacher was impressed enough by her academics to award her one of the top history awards in the school recognizing the work she did in class.  It is a poor picture, but it is what I have.
