Snow Sculptures

We alleviated one day of boredom by having some friends over to create snow sculptures in the field behind the house. It wasn't the best snow for packing but the kids did what they could with it and still came up with some fun creations.

Inspired by Narnia, they created a throne room with 5 thrones.

These are the guys that built the 2 man cave.

The girls were working on a small scale castle. It ended up with a tunnel through the bottom.

They spent a couple of hours outdoors working on their creations. It was good exercise, fun friendship and nice to get some fresh air. It was good to get in some socializing because later today we are expecting another 10 to 20 inches of snow. We may be housebound several more days.

My favorite moment of the day was when a large vulture circled overhead. The bird was probably hoping that one of the kids would drop dead in the snow so he could have lunch. It realized quickly that all were alive and well and took off to look for other prey.

After the kids were done outside the came in for hot chocolate, popcorn and brownies. We laid out long painters cloths to catch the drips and keep the wet clothes off the wood floors. All the gear from 13 kids made for my favorite picture of the day.

on the bright side, you didn't have to wash all their clothes. their own mother's can do that :)
