Lauren spent most of the week with a fat lip. (So this part can't be called fun, but it was part of the week.) She and Sarah had an altercation which resulted in Sarah throwing the remote at Lauren. It hit her in the mouth and melded her lip to her braces. Even with quite a bit of ice and ibuprofen Lauren ended up looking like collagen injections gone horribly wrong. By New Years Eve it was still fat but not as purple. Lauren went to the New Years dance followed by breakfast at the bishop's house and had a great time. The rest of us watched Journey to the Center of the Earth and the ball drop on TV.
New Years Day we started getting Ralph and Steven ready for the scouts winter campout. I needed to go shopping with Steven to get some warmer clothing items as well as some hats. We are slowly collecting gear for the cold again after spending so much time not needing it in CA. I also picked up some hiking boots for both of them so they had better footgear than just sneakers. They camped by the Shenandoah River on Friday evening and did some geocaching on Saturday morning. The only thing that went wrong was the boys tent coming down on one side in the middle of the night. Evidently Steven slept through this event. This was probably why he was up at sunrise when the others were ready to sleep a little later.
