Snowed In

Well, we aren't really snowed in but we may as well have been.  The kids got home from school on Tuesday afternoon and didn't set foot outside until Saturday evening.  It has been nice to have no schedule and no responsibilities and have time to hang out as a family.  Christmas was calm and quiet.  We lit a fire on Christmas Eve, which we haven't done before.  We read some Christmas stories and Ralph read from Luke 2.  The little girls fell asleep which made it possible to play Scrabble with the older kids.  William, with some help from Ralph, made a seven letter word, which gave him the highest score for the night.

Christmas Day the kids opened their presents which included a Wii Fit.  They headed downstairs to hook it up and that was the last we saw of them for the day.  Oh sure, one of them would come up for food or occasionally to complain about how unfair the turns were, but overall they were content playing all day long.  Same for Friday and Saturday until we dragged them out of the house to see the lights at the DC Temple Visitor's Center.  It was good for them to get some fresh air.

After a really cold week, with no snow, it has warmed up and was very pleasant for Saturday and Sunday although it has been dark with clouds.  We went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore on Monday so that cabin fever wouldn't claim us, but it was nice to spend Christmas tucked into home.
