When Lauren decided to do cheer this year in high school, I was surprised. In all the years that I have lived with her I have never seen her bounce. She doesn't spend time twirling, dancing or tumbling. So even though she has been on the team for a month, it was still with a measure of disbelief that I found myself sitting in the stands waiting for the start of the JV football game and a chance to see my eldest daughter cheering.
Of course one of the caveats of parenthood is that children are unpredictable, proven by the fact that Lauren even tried out. And one of the joys of parenting is watching your child completely blow your mind in a good way. I had so much fun watching her! She looked like Lauren out there. She is neither the bounciest nor the loudest girl (I didn't expect her to be and it is good to know that some of my expectations still hold), but she looked like she was having fun and enjoying the experience. For those of you who are also surprised by Lauren's venture outside of her normal comfort zone, I took some pictures for you.
