The Big Day

Rachel spent the month of August telling everyone she met that she was a preschooler and was going to go to preschool this year. With two weeks to go before the start of the school year, her slacker mom finally got around to enrolling her in one. She was so excited! And then she had to wait, and wait some more. Then the big kids got to go to school and she was still waiting for the first day of preschool to come. Finally we got there. It was Rachel's turn to go off to school.
But not so fast, it was the right day and she was ready but since we enrolled so late, we got an afternoon slot. More waiting. She packed a snack in a lunch bag just like the big kids, she got dressed and put on her own closed toe shoes, she asked her mom a hundred times if it was time yet. Then finally her mom relented and said it was close enough to time and to go ahead and get in the car. Her feet didn't touch the ground as she skipped down the front walk.
And here she is standing in the hallway (more waiting of course) until the teacher opens the classroom. And was preschool as wonderful as she thought it would be? YES!
