At the Seashore

I love this picture of Geral standing at the edge of the water as the wave laps around her feet. The mood of the picture sums up what I like about spending time at the beach. I like the feeling of time suspended as the tide creeps in and out. I like how all other sounds are muted against the roar of the surf. I like collecting shells and rocks rolled smooth in the sand. I like noticing time passing only by the length and direction of shadows cast by the sun. I like the fascination of the changing shapes of the sand as the waves move it around.

There is just so much to like.
Building a castle in the flood plain, just so they can watch the waves knock it down.

Sarah taking a walk in the waves.

Another favorite picture. Rachel loved the waves crashing around her.

Steven was the boogie boarding master.

William spent his time bobbing in the waves and catching sand crabs.

Run Away! Geral's favorite game was to beat the wave back to shore.

"Mommy will you take my picture like this and put it on your blog?"

Lauren and Steven out in the water.
If you look carefully you can see the dorsal fin of a dolphin just past them.

Looks like you guys had a great time.
I think I will like the beach again one day when I don't have little kids to constantly watch.

That was actually me (Michelle) not Andrew that posted the above comment.

You captured perfectly what I love about the beach, too.

I love Geral's (I think) pose and comment about posting her picture on your blog, so cute! You did sum up the magic of a great beach day. I miss it, but look forward to reconnecting with my old friend, the beach. NC sharks need not apply!
