Decorating the Living Room

Last Friday after Rachel, Geral and I had been to the playground, we didn't feel like going home yet so we went for a drive to see what we could find.  We ended up at a furniture store which we occasionally like to browse.  Rachel likes to test drive all the sofas and chairs.  This time we found some furniture that struck our fancy at a price that we were willing to pay.  Lucky us!  Our living room has been empty except for the piano and bookcases since we moved in.  In some ways it has been fun to have a large empty room.  The kids have played tag and other race around games in there but I think that having furniture will be a nice change.  Of course, once I brought home the furniture on Friday, I had to paint the room.  What was the point of putting my pretty new furniture in a room that was painted a color I detested left over from the previous owners.  That became my project on Saturday.  I painted the room a nice green color.  Sunday evening we put the bookcases back against the wall and positioned the furniture in time to have our home teachers come and give the living room a test run.  I have since hung some artwork and all I have left to do is hang the curtains.  I am pleased with how the room turned out and the best part is that it finally feels like it is part of our house and not just someone else's room intruding on our space.  My favorite part of the room is still the beautiful bookcases Ralph made for me before we left San Diego but now I have a chair to sit on while I admire them.
